Let your good work be seen.

  • Authentic

Do you show the humans behind your business?

  • Fresh

Is it up to date, and growing with you?

  • Professional

Does it make you proud and elevate your brand?

Having photos taken can be easy.

I believe the experience of working with a photographer is just as important the final photos; and the better the experience the better the result. I take the time to get to know you and understand your business so we can create consistent content together that makes you proud to keep sharing your vision with the world.

Content

Stop using stock images and round out your photo set with images that are relevant to your business, consistent, and match your brand style.

I’m all in. Every session includes:

  • A planning session so we can get to know each other and dream up your custom photography based on what you do, and how you plan to use your imagery

  • Professional editing of final imagery

  • Delivery in JPG format, both High Res, and Web-friendly size

  • 1. Get in touch

Contact me. We’ll talk goals, your brand style, and start planning your photo session. Next I’ll provide a quote for the project and we book in a shoot date via a 30% deposit (remainder due after photo delivery).

  • 2. Prep

Before our session I'll touch base with you to run through our plan from the day in more detail. Here I can answer any questions you may have, and we can make final decisions together (eg for brand shoots, the list of β€˜must have’ images, what to wear, and props to bring).

  • 3. Session day!

Every single person I’ve worked with was nervous. But don’t worry if this is a new adventure for you, I’ll guide you through the day. It’s my job to help you feel comfortable. I’ll work with you to show your best side and we’ll view photos as we go so you’ll know what we’re creating.

  • 4. Editing & polishing

Then I’ll get busy processing your images! If you booked a portrait session, you have the option to choose your favourites to be edited and included in final delivery. Within 2 weeks of making your picks, your set of custom imagery will be in your inbox!

About me

Hi, I’m Sarah (Jean) Booher. I worked at advertising agencies in the US & NZ for nearly a decade and founded a sustainable packaging startup before I became a photographer. I bring that branding & advertising experience to my work, along with the understanding of what it’s like to be a business owner. I want to help other entrepreneurs create the change they want to see and help put the power of media in the hands of companies that are moving our world forward.

Ask me anything

  • Reach out as soon as you know you’ll be needing photos. Ideally 1 month in advance of your ideal date is best.

Get in touch asap if you have a deadline and I can help create a schedule.

  • I’m based in Wellington and available to travel anywhere in Aotearoa. Travel costs are additional to the photo package / vary on location (I charge the exact flight cost + a minimal travel fee).

Contact me if you’re keen to work together and I can also let you know when I’m planning a trip to your location.

  • There are no rules but my tips -

    • It might seem counter-intuitive but fitted clothes look better than baggy ones in photos. Choose clothes that fit well (not too tight, not too loose).

    • Avoid wearing all black - sometimes you can blend into dark backgrounds; and some colour or layering helps personality come through in the photos

    • Avoid clothing with large brand logos (this often doesn’t fit well for business imagery)

    • Bring an extra top option or a slight variation (eg a jacket to try), I can help you decide at the session

    • Wear seasonal clothes - eg dress for the weather. This makes the photos look natural and keeps you feeling comfortable

    • Tidy up your nails - eg filed and no dirt under the nail (you’d be surprised how this elevates a photo)

And my NUMBER ONE tip - forget all the things you SHOULD DO and just wear what makes you feel good!! If you feel confident in your outfit, that will come through in the photos.

  • You don’t need to, but it can be fun to treat yourself! Having professional makeup done generally helps everyone's skin look amazing and reduces shine in photos.

I partner with Amy McLennan from every.day clean beauty to offer makeup for my photoshootsβ€”let me know if you're keen and I can contact Amy.

  • Don’t worry! Everyone gets nervous. It’s my job to help you feel comfortable - to me the process matters as much as the final result. I’ll provide activities to do during the shoot to get candid shots and put you at ease.

  • You have full rights to use the images, while the photographer retains the copyright (this is called Licensing and is meant to protect artists and the value of their work, in-line with the Copyright Act 1994).

When working with me, this just means you can use the photos for your own purposes that we’ve agreed to (eg advertising, personal use) but you cannot resell them or give them to third parties to make a profit from without the photographer’s permission.

Likewise I'll use the photos to promote my own business (eg portfolio website, social media), but I won't share the photos with other parties to use them without your consent.

  • Professional photos are captured as RAW files within a camera - a large file format that captures all the data in an image and needs specific photo programmes to open.

To deliver final images to you after a session, I import the RAWs and process them in photo editing software - eg finessing the colours/tones to make the image pop.

Then I export them into standard picture JPG format that you can use. I always deliver JPGs in High Resolution format (master files that you can scale, crop/resize and they won’t lose quality), and Web-friendly JPGs (formatted for socials, and smaller in file size so big images don’t slow down how quickly your website loads).

As part of the process I also do minor retouching - eg removing small distractions from the background, like a cord that sneaks into the corner of a frame, or super noticeable blemishes on portraits, but I believe less is more - you’re beautiful as you are!

If your project requires more detailed retouching work please let me know before we start.

  • I’m fully vaccinated and following recommendations under the Covid-19 protection framework. If you have any health or accessibility needs, I’m happy to accomodate - please let me know before our session.
